Last year, DraftKings inked a partnership deal with World Series of Poker (WSOP) to become the organization’s official daily fantasy partner. Now, the Boston-based DFS site is leveraging that relationship by offering a promo that will send 48 lucky winners to the $10,000 buy-in WSOP Main Event, and give them the chance to win a coveted gold bracelet along with millions of dollars in prize money.
Winners of the DraftKings package won’t just receive the five figure tournament buy-in. They’ll enjoy a week stay in a Las Vegas hotel from July 6-13, access to the Main Event VIP suite and party, loads of DraftKings swag and a $1,000 stipend for airfare. In all, the company values the package at $12,500.
For a chance to win, players can buy-in directly to eligible MLB $50k-cap contests for $27, or win a ticket for those events for as little as $.25 through MLB, NASCAR and NHL satellites running until July 2.
Last year, the WSOP Main Event drew 6,683 entrants, creating a total prize pool of $62,820,200. Sweden’s Martin Jacobson defeated Norwegian grinder Felix Stephenson to claim the Main Event gold bracelet and the $10 million first-place prize.
This year, tournament organizers have decided to implement a “flatter” payout structure, with first-place receiving just $8 million, so that extra places can be paid. Only 11 DraftKings promo packages remain for the tournament, which is set to take place at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino, July 5-14.
